Nikola Gruevski is trying to protect himself from all sides in panic. One of his last steps yesterday is passing a bill which introduced unconstitutional authority “Council for determining facts and raising procedure for accountability of judges.”
– According to the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia, only responsible for the selection and dismissal of judges is the Judicial Council. This body has long been illegally working in conjunction with the executive authority. Now citizens will pay parallel body with similar authority as the Judicial Council. Why? – asks SDSM.
The opposition party also added that the Council for determining facts and raising procedure for accountability of judges was established and voted by summary proceedings in the Assembly for no reason.
– This is happening at a time when courts and judges will face the greatest challenge after revealing the illegal and criminal rule of Nikola Gruevski and several individuals around him. In summary proceedings, without any debate, amendments to the Law on Judges and Prosecutors, introduced by this government, were made. With frequent changes to its own laws, the Government shows that it does not know what it is doing, but that it is playing state at the expense of citizens – reads the announcement of SDSM.
