SDSM has submitted their initiative and calls on Veljanoski to assemble Parliament immediately

The Secretary General of SDSM and MP Oliver Spasovski today submitted to Parliament an initiative to extend the constitutive session, signed by 67 MPs.

“With this initiative, there will no dilemma about securing a parliamentary majority. The initiative was signed by 67 MPs and we expect Trajko Veljanoski to immediately schedule an extention of the constitutive session of Parliament, so it can may again work in the interest of the citizens”, said Spasovski.

He said the first step will be the election of the President of Parliament and then SDSM expects President Gjorge Ivanov to give the mandate to their leader, Zoran Zaev to form a government.

Spasovski said he expected a coordianted session to be assembled with all political parties to consider the options for a candidate for the position of Speaker of Parliament.

When asked what would happen if Veljanoski does not convene the session, he said that everyone should be up to the task, to be responsible and not to hold the institutions hostage.

“A constitutive session is just the beginning and there is no deadline for its extention. It can be immediately assmebled and we expect Trajko Veljanoski to do so immediately”, said Spasovski.

He added that SDSM has not yet chosen a coordinator of its parliamentary group.
