Saints Row The Third Remastered is a parody of GTA where megalomaniac exaggerated battles occur with fighting and mostly with shooting. The game is full of humor and satire and a huge portion of violence. Imagine the destruction you do in GTA and multiply that with 3000 because this game is up to the roof with the absurd and it’s abundant with non stop action.
The graphics of the game are good but it couldn’t be compared to the newest game as far as graphics is concerned. The game also has similar features to Need For Speed where you can edit your vehicles and to change their color and addons. They say that this is the last Saints game where the action is in “this reality” because in the sequels of Saints Row there are elements from Matrix and Mass Effect such as aliens, simulated realities, superhero powers ect.
Although Saints Row The Third Remastered doesn’t have those elements, it’s still funny and a very entertaining game to play. You can customize the character to look the way you want and if you go to the outfits option you can choose for the main character to look like a ninja, a knight in full armor and many other costumes with pop culture references that are funnier than funny.
The weapons you can use can be pistols, machine guns, shotguns, automatic rifles and usually the enemies can take a lot of hits in the body before you kill them and if you shoot them in the head they die instantly. Because the story is about the Saints gang that reaches commercial success and sells sodas with their logo and are always in the media so that other criminal organizations want to take their attention and their money as their own. But the Saints don’t respond to threats lightly and they fight against all of them. There is an interesting scene at the beginning of the game while you are robbing a bank a fangirl stops you for an autograph which you sing and another member of the Saints starts courting her while you shoot at special forces with which you are in constant battle. After that you blow up the roof of the safe and a big helicopter of yours comes in and lifts the safe and you are riding on it and shooting against helicopters and special forces holding to the cables or the edge of the safe.
The next bigger battle is when you decide to get guns for the gang and you pick a military base to rob for that, you steal weapons there and launch rockets through computers, rockets that land on tank’s, vehicles and soldiers that attack you around the base and immediately after you’re flying with a helicopter and bring down other helicopters with shooting-the action doesn’t seem to stop. It is interesting that in some cases you have unlimited ammo for the endless waves of enemies.
Another important part of the game is the radio in the game that you can turn on or off, because it’s similar to the radio in GTA while you’re driving a car. The problem is the radio can do one song on endless repeat the whole time and because of that it’s better to turn it off completely.
The driving in the game is very well done and most players rather ride motorbikes because they are easier to control than the cars. A good option to have is to unlock the ability for a vehicle to be delivered at your location, you can even ask for a tank if you need one. There are also comical vehicles that look like straight out of an amusement park but with machine guns on them. The game is totally on the flip side and you can expect anything. One of the funniest features in the game is when you let the cars hit you on purpose cause you’re doing an insurance fraud and the more times you get hit the more money you get, the ragdoll in the air of the body is funny cause you can control the fall and the aim is to land in front of another moving car to hit you.
All the Saints Row games have a lot of unexpected things in them-and that makes them fun.
