Our principled approach is that Russia is that the region’s most complicated issue to be resolved by the Balkans independently without being rushed or gauged up to formal criteria; in other words – without any external interference.
This was said today by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Marija Zaharova at the regular press conference, talking about the Strategy of the EC about the Western Balkans.
Zaharova stressed that the EC’s Strategy about the Western Balkans is confirming the geopolitical goal of the Union for a further expansion and for strengthening its role in this important European Region.
-We have repeatedly stated that Russia doesn’t object to the European integration of the Balkans as long as prospective EU members don’t have to make the choice between the EU and Russia – said Zaharova
