Rather than the Law on the SPO, the Cross in Butel on the agenda of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday

-

The initiative for assessing the constitutionality of the Law on the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) which is a key requirement of the”Colourful Revolution,” has not been placed as an item on today’s agenda nor the next session of the Constitutional Court, scheduled for June 22.

The agenda for the next session of the Constitutional Court, published today, will again be the initiative for assessing the constitutionality and legality of the decision to build the 55 metre cross in Butel. This item was brought before Constitutional Judges at a session on May 31, but was withdrawn from the agenda by the reporting judge, Vladimir Pavlov. At the time, he said that the initiative will be again put on the agenda in the next sessions.

The decision on building the cross in Butel, which caused tensions in late February and early March of this year, is the sixth item on the agenda for Wednesday next week.

The initiative for the Law on the SPO, although it was expected even at last minutes notice to be discussed at yesterday’s session, it was not on the agenda of the session of the Constitutional Court. The court said that like all other initiatives, it will be allocated to the reporting judge and the public will be notified when it will be on the agenda.

The opinion of the Constitutional Court of the law on the SPO is one of the two key requirements by the united civil movements “I protest”, the “Colourful Revolution” and the opposition, the SDSM.

They declared that if their demands are not met by June 18, “citizens will take justice into their own hands and in their own way”.
