All blockades, blockades threats and statements offering excuses against our membership are not in the spirit of European values and not conducive to peace and stability in the region, reads the statement by MFA issued after the statement of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama for possible blockage of Macedonia’s accession to NATO, as well as after the statement of his Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that Albania and Bulgaria have territorial pretensions towards Macedonia.
“A sincere cooperation and unequivocal support of our neighbors and international partners is needed. Macedonia will continue to work actively to continuously strengthen cooperation with all our neighbors and partners in the interest of progress in the region,” reads a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
MFA stated that the strategic goal of the Republic of Macedonia is to integrate into the EU and NATO.
“It is in the interests of all Macedonian citizens for a better future, economic development, peace and stability in the country and the region. Interethnic co-existence and respect for cultural, ethnic, religious diversity and human rights are the foundation of the Macedonian society and the constitutional order. We are all united for European future of Macedonia,” reads the statement.
