The Public Prosecutor’s Office – Prilep has started a preliminary investigation on the case of Macedonians who were defrauded in the USA for cheap airline tickets, confirmed the Prosecution in Prilep for “Meta”.
“After criminal charges were filed by the damaged parties in the Public Prosecutor’s Office – Prilep, two criminal proceedings have been filed in connection with the case. The first case is against two people, one individual, and another who works within the law. The second case is against two individuals, who are suspected of fraud, criminal offenses Art.247 of the Criminal Code. After the charges were initiated a preliminary investigation has begun”, said the Public Prosecutor.
As “Meta” wrote yesterday, more than 30 lawsuits have been filed by Macedonians living in the United States, against the owner of Prilep travel agency “Storija Travel”, accusing the company of fraud through cheap airline tickets.
As already announced by “Meta”, Macedonians, expatriates have allegedly been defrauded after being promised cheap flights to Skopje’s airport after they had purchased tickets. The whole scam occurred while the Macedonian Diaspora were celebrating the New year and singer Elena Jovcevska who was performing and entertaining the guests that evening and is originally from Prilep, offered cheap flights to Macedonia with the Austrian airline “Austrian Airlines” and allegedly took money from people. The money, however, was paid directly to the owner of the travel agency “Storija Travel” Jasmina Jordanoska-Chebrenska.
A lawsuit has been filed against the agency, by the singer Elena Jovcevska who was employed at the travel agency. She has stated that she will go public with specific information once the travel agency is formally charged.
