Milutin Sekulovski – Mikjo, international diving instructor from Ohrid, completed the action of search diving the coastal area of the lake, transmitted West.
– We found some interesting things, some of which we did not have any information so far. We documented several prehistoric settlements locations Vrbnik near Struga Buchieze in Albania, Nadol in Trpejca, prehistoric settlement near Gradishte. We found large colonies of European freshwater crab and freshwater crooked cancer that resides in certain places and in communities, at a depth of eight to 15 meters – said Sekulovski.
During the diving, sunken boats in Struga from World War I, and the wreckage of World War II aircraft of the Royal Air Force of the British Air Force were documented.
– We also documented the locations with interesting configuration at the bottom, and underground springs in several places on the lake bottom were located. Similar sources of those of St. Naum were located on the bottom of the lake near the monastery Kalishta, at a depth of five to eight meters, sources with high yield – added Sekulovski.
The data of the activities will be available to all interested as the Hydrobiological Institute “Institute and Museum” from Ohrid and other scientific institutions. Although the project is not research, still all information provided will be available to the public and it is planned upon completion of the collected material, a documentary with all activities and exhibition of underwater photography to be made..
According Sekulovski the registered material is not only interesting for the scientific and cultural institutions, but would be more than welcome for the development of underwater tourism of the Ohrid Lake.
For the safety of divers, specialized units of the police and the Army took care, and the entire period of the intake, the hyperbaric chamber of the diving club “Amphora” which operates under the direction of Dr. Goran Baleski, himself a diver, was on alert.
