At the Holiday Inn Hotel in Skopje, a kick-off event was held for the project “The Critical Thinking for Mediawise Citizens – CriThink ”, supported by the European Union and will be implemented in the next three years by the Foundation for Internet and Society “Metamorphosis” in partnership with the Center for European Strategies – Eurothink.
At the meeting, attended by representatives of civil society organizations, media and state institutions, the project team presented the basic elements and announced the first call for small grants, which will last until 6 July.
In the first cycle of the program for small grants of “CriThink”, eight grants are to be awarded, which will support projects intended for each of the eight planning regions.
The goal of the project, as explained by Filip Stojanovski, head of the project “CriThink” and program director at “Metamorphosis” is to promote media literacy as a basis for preserving the right of citizens to have different opinions by stimulating culture for critical thinking, pluralism of opinions and democratic values.
The scheme of small grants was presented by Goran Lazarov, Project Coordinator at Eurothink, and Emilija Petreska-Kamenjarova, Head of the Human Rights and Media Literacy Unit at the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services spoke about the importance of media literacy and the national Media Literacy Network.
