President Ivanov and members of the Steering Committee discussed the migrant crisis

Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov held a meeting today with members of the Steering Committee, the Government body for Coordination for Crisis Management and members of staff from the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, about dealing with the refugee and migrant crisis.

The meeting was held in order for President Ivanov to introduce members of the committee with the recent meeting with the European Council President Donald Tusk, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Executive Director of Frontex, Fabrice Leggeri, and with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, where information was exchanged on the current situation and the measures and activities of the EU to manage the migrant and refugee crisis.

“President Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the responsible approach to the crisis by President Tusk and his satisfaction of the proposals relating to the reduction of security risks. The Macedonian President present at the meeting discussed them and they were accepted and entered into the conclusions of the European Council, with an emphasis of EU assistance so Macedonia can keep performing registration of migrants and refugees, in line with the standards with the European Union, “said a statement from the Presidents Cabinet.
