Lines Athens – Brussels overheated: A possible new proposal to lenders

-

Speculations of a possible movement of the Greek government in order to achieve agreement at the last moment with lenders are spread throughout Greece.

The sudden cancellation of scheduled meetings of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras with representatives of the Greek associations of traders and hoteliers, the sudden cancellation of athe government briefing and the movement of the prime minister’s office, caused doubts whether Tsipras may change position and is working on a solution at the last moment.

Greek Prime Minister today is constantly on the line with the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz.

Greek media have spread information that perhaps Tsipras is preparing a new proposal that would be submitted to the institutions to find a solution and compromise at the last minute and to stabilize the situation in Greece.

Greek newspaper “Proto Thema” came out with information that it is possible Tsipras during the day to suddenly go to Brussels at meetings to discuss the possibility of a new agreement.

Despite the government’s movement and information about a possible “reconciliation” of Athens and Brussels and restarting negotiations, Tsipras’ chief of staff Nikos Pappas announced a position that it does not change anything and that the government will not deviate from the idea of a referendum.

– There will be a referendum. Certain people should stop dreaming that Tsipras will withdraw the referendum – said Pappas.
