The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption (BPPO-POCC) before a pre-trial judge from the Criminal Court – Skopje requested detention for three of the detainees taken into custody this morning. The announcement from the Prosecutor’s Office, also states that custody was requested for the former mayor of the Municipality of Karpos, Stevco Jakimovski, who was detained.
They are suspected of abuse of office and authorization, while one of the detainees is suspected of illegally building.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that four orders have been issued so far for investigative procedures for several individuals, including Stevco Jakimovski and former employees of the Municipality of Karpos, and the order for a new investigation into illegal construction against the former mayor and two more from the municipal administration was issued at the beginning of the month. This investigation is part of a new string of arrests.
The overall investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption is the case for the procurement of garden plants and seedlings in 2016 and 2017, but also for the unlawful legalization of illegal buildings and for the purchase of state building land on which the illegal constructions were.
For six of the detainees, the Prosecution have requested precautionary measures.
