-

The Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, tomorrow arrives in Athens for an official meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias. This is Poposki’s second visit to Athens, following his participation in the informal meeting of Ministers of the EU and candidate countries during the Greek Presidency in 2014, but this is the first official visit as Minister of Foreign Affairs to Macedonia.
At the meeting a number of topics are expected to be discussed, matters of bilateral interest such as the name dispute, confidence-building measures that were agreed between the two countries during Kotzias visit to Skopje this summer and also about the two sides being in constant contact and talks, due to the current refugee crisis.
The two Ministers, as announced by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs will have their first face to face meeting, and will then hold talks in an expanded format with the participation of representatives from both ministries.
Minister Poposki visit comes at a time where there has been mild movement on both sides to intensify negotiations in an attempt to find a solution over the name dispute and information about potential new Greek proposals in negotiations.
