Pope Francis to meet with Zaev, Ivanov and religious leaders on his visit to Skopje on May 7

Pope Francis will arrive in Skopje on the morning of May 7th, where he will meet with political and religious leaders, reports the press office at the Holy See in the Vatican.

After an official welcome, Pope Francis will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, as well as representatives from the civil sector and the diplomatic corps. During his stay in the country, the Holy Father will meet with religious leaders as well as the poor.

“In the program for Pope Francis’ apostolic journey to North Macedonia, the Holy Father is scheduled to serve a holy Liturgy, and then attend an ecumenical and inter-religious meeting with young people. The Holy Father will end his 29th apostolic journey in the afternoon on May 7th, with a meeting with priests and their families and will then return to Rome”, reads the statement.

Before visiting North Macedonia, the Holy Father will visit the Republic of Bulgaria and the cities of Sofia and Rakovski.
