Political parties congratulate Ss. Cyril and Methodius

VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, Assembly Speaker Trajko Veljanovski congratulated May 24 – Day of Slavic educators and teachers, holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, to the citizens.

– Their work is still alive and left an everlasting mark on the culture, tradition and uniqueness of all Slavic peoples. Their sacred mission of enlightenment of the Slavic peoples in Europe is only indicative of the strong human spirit and primordial urge to preserve language, culture and identity uniqueness, reads the greeting card of VMRO-DPMNE.

SDSM leader Zoran Zaev believes that this day is a reminder of their intrinsic and historical role for the Macedonian people and the creation of universal benefits, such as literacy, enlightenment and unification of the Slavic peoples.

– Through their noble and educational activities in these areas, the brothers Cyril and Methodius made Macedonia cradle of Slavic culture and literacy, thus writing the brightest pages of Macedonian history. On this day, we are sending the message that we will restore the work and importance of Slavic educators Cyril and Methodius and their students, whose major role in laying the foundations of language, and thus of culture and identity, deserves perpetual respect of current and future generations in Macedonia, to their rightful place, reads Zaev’s greeting card.

In his greeting card to the citizens, Assembly Speaker Trajko Veljanoski said that the commitment of Cyril and Methodius to the translation of biblical texts opened the gates of knowledge and universal development of many nations in Europe and beyond.

– Holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their breakthrough and civilized work are a contribution to the Macedonian people and peoples who cherish Slavic culture. It is our pride that our ancestors, thanks to the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, got the opportunity to receive and cherish Christian values in their own comprehensible language, reads Veljanoski’s greeting card.
