Wouter Plomp, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Macedonia, said that yesterday’s interview of the opposition leader, Zoran Zaev with the Editor in Chief in “Sitel” television Dragan Pavlovic – Latas is a proof of the importance of media for democratic developments in the country.
“The vast number of reactions to last night’s interview shows the importance of media for democratic developments in the country and how much it matters to the citizens. The contents of the programme last night have to be assessed by the self-regulatory body of the media and the state regulating body, which is the Agency for Media taking into account that – according to Macedonian law – television broadcasters should provide equal treatment of diverse views and opinions. This is also one of the reasons why it is so important that tomorrow the Charter of Ethical Reporting will be signed and I very much hope that many media will sign up to it”, said Plomp.
