Pendarovski signs the Laws on Abortion, Discrimination, and Access to Public Information and 15 others

The President of the country, Stevo Pendarovski has signed decrees promulgating 18 laws that had not been signed by former President Georgi Ivanov, stated the presidential cabinet.

Among the signed decrees, were the proclamation of the Law on the Prevention and Protection against Discrimination, then the Law on the Termination of a Pregnancy, known as the Abortion Law. Pendarovski also signed the Law on Free Legal Aid, the Law on Free Access to Public Information, the Law on the Judicial Council of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Law on Amending the Law on Service in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia, and the Law on Amending and Supplementing the Law on Subsidized Housing Loans.

“The implementation of these laws brings various benefits and legal solutions that are of vital interest to the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia. The Law on the Prevention and Protection against Discrimination provides for the principle of equality, prevention and protection against discrimination in the realization of human rights and freedoms. The law protects persons with disabilities and introduces gender identity and sexual orientation as a basis for protection against discrimination.
The Law on the Termination of a Pregnancy abolishes the existing administrative procedures and barriers in the implementation of the procedure for the safe termination of a pregnancy”, reads the statement.
