Osmani expects an unconditional recommendation for negotiations with the EU by the end of summer

-

In this period, the Government is fully committed to actualize the urgent reform priorities in the next three months, so by the end of the summer the country can obtain an unconditional recommendation to start negotiations with the European Union, said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Bujar Osmani in an interview for “Televizija 24“.

Osmani assessed that the arrival of Reinhard Priebe and his expert team in Macedonia as an excellent idea, and as he said, to see where the urgent reform priorities are at this point and all observations made by the expert group in 2015.

“On Monday, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and I will have a meeting in Brussels with senior representatives of the European Union, European Council and the European Commission where we will discuss urgent issues which need to be addressed in the next few months. From this meeting, but also from the meeting with Priebe and his experts, we expect it will help put together a new updated plan for urgent priorities that need to be solved and to fulfill this in the first three months to be able to project the message that we are ready and around September or October to attain an unconditional recommendation to start negotiations”, said Osmani.

He stated that the first session of Government, a set of measures were adopted, including the draft text of a resolution which will confirm the country’s commitment towards the Euro-Atlantic path, which should be passed in Parliament. Osmani said he expected all parties, both in government and the opposition to support this resolution.
