On 8th of July a protest for “Macedonia”, in Athens

-

After today’s protests across northern Greece, a protest in defense of the name “Macedonia” will be held in Athens, in the central Syntagma Square, on 8th of July, just a few days before the NATO Summit.

Proto Thema writes that the protest in Athens, is being organized by the Association for the Protection of the Rights of Vlachs speaking Greek language (Vlachophones) in Macedonia and the Association for the Protection of Hellenic Macedonia.

Both associations call on the public that the Greek character of Macedonia can not be negotiated and that “There is only one Macedonia and it is Greek”.

The two associations add that for such a serious issue, such as the name of a neighboring country, Greek citizens should be asked, not only those who live in the country, but also the Greek diaspora.

Therefore, they warn that if the Greek Parliament adopts the name resolution agreement, the citizens will be outside with a message that “their name is their story”.
