Number of people infected with COVID-19 on the rise in North Macedonia, number of face mask violations drops (infographic)

-

In the last 24 hours, the police registered 412 people who were caught not wearing face masks and. consequently, will be fined in accordance with the offence regulations provided by the Government of North Macedonia, informed the Ministry of Interior (MOI). The MOI urged the people to observe all measures and protocols provided by the Government in order to fight the COVID-19.

But despite MOI’s appeals, their statistical data show that in the past days the number of registered violations of this measure has lowered significantly. Meta.mk previously wrote that the number of people caught not wearing face masks was on the rise, as this is an important regulation in the prevention of the coronavirus spread. The data provided by MOI show that the fines i.e. the registered violations, have begun to decrease during the second half of June.

Despite this, the number of newly registered COVID-19 infections is growing day by day in North Macedonia, and with it, the death toll is on the rise. The situation with the number of active cases in Skopje, especially in the municipality of Chair, is causing a great concern.

The health authorities are urging the citizens to comply with protective measures, such as wearing a face mask, maintaining a safe distance, and hand hygiene. Recently, the American scientist Rich Davis published photographs of an experiment that showed the importance of wearing a face mask. The experiment shows that wearing a face mask can prevent respiratory droplets to be dispersed in the surrounding area.
