From today, anybody – be it a foreigner or a national – wanting to enter or exit North Macedonia at any border crossing, will have to show a vaccination certificate against COVID-19, with two doses of the vaccine administered or COVID-19 recovery certificate for the past 45 days or a medical certificate with a negative PCR test made 72 hours before exiting Macedonia or an antigen-negative test made 48 hours before exiting the country.

All passengers at border crossings that will not meet one of the three criteria will be put into a mandatory quarantine in a time period of 7 days. The time of the quarantine can be shortened to 5 days if during this period a negative PCR test is submitted. This regulation is valid both for local and foreign nationals, while the isolation of foreign nationals is at their expense.

The government of North Macedonia provisioned an exception for the airplane crews that are landing at the country’s international airports according to which instead of 5 hours they will be allowed a longer transitory period because of the nature of their profession.
