Venko Filipche, the Minister of Health of North Macedonia informed that 2 500 citizens were vaccinated yesterday out of the 2 800 who registered for vaccination against COVID-19. There were two cases of people collapsing but these cases weren’t vaccine-related – they were induced by panic attacks and fear.

Until yesterday, 13 000 citizens were vaccinated in North Macedonia and 90% of the medical personnel that is working in the COVID-centers were vaccinated and re-vaccinated. In the Boris Trajkovski Sports Centre, medical personnel working in public and private medical facilities that wasn’t vaccinated in the initial wave of vaccination received the jab yesterday.

When asked by a journalist about the reaction of oldert citizens that they cannot get an appointment for vaccination, Filipche said that this problem was unknown to him as maybe the doctors might need additional time to contact the patients aged above 75.

He also said that the optimal number of daily vaccinations that they want to achieve is 7.000 persons per day, but that will depend on the availability of the vaccines. Filipche didn’t say when exactly the Chinese vaccines will arrive, but also the Pfizer vaccines and those that we should get through the COVAX facility.

Filipche said that the restrictive measures that were adopted yesterday should contribute to lowering the pressure on the hospitals, since Easter and Ramazan holidays pose an additional risk and the health system will not be able to bear it.

Once again he appealed to the citizens to obey to the measures and to vaccinate themselves thereby helping the country to exit faster from the third wave which has been the most massive so far.
