More than 5,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Municipality of Mogila tonight is under two meters of water. Rain and melting snow increased the level of Crna Reka, which overflowed on the same places as a month and a half before.
“Yards of villages Loznani and Novoselani are flooded, while flooding of houses in the lower parts threaten village Vasharejca,” confirmed Mayor Stevche Pivkovski.
– The road to Mogila and Radobor is cut off on the part where Crna Reka and river Shemnica converge, water has overflown and it is already closed. Now village Charlija is under threat, meaning that the situation from January is repeating – says Pikovski.
Mayor of Mogila reacted that although they were promised that dams on Crna Reka would be repaired, it didn’t happen. Crisis Headquarters began working near the village Loznani and only after one day, without any explanation, the rehabilitation of the bed stopped.
– Three weeks ago, reparation of dams started in order to not repeat the situation of the great floods and the work stopped without informing us why everything stopped. What am I supposed to do now, ask God to stop the abrupt melting of snow? I do not know how we can help people now – reacts Pivkovski.
Pelagonija Municipality of Novaci is also under threat of new flooding.
Level of Crna is constantly increasing and the soil is fed by moisture.
Dimche Joshevski from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue said there was no danger of flooding Bitola villages, but the situation is monitored by the hour.
