MLSP to file criminal charges for the irregularities in the distribution of pensions

-

The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP) announced that today it will file criminal charges in the Basic Public Prosecutor Office against an unknown perpetrator, together with all the documents from the pension system analysis, which revealed irregularities in the distribution of payments for some future pensioners.

“Namely, the rigorous analysis of the pension system carried out by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy together with international financial institutions, for the first time in 12 years, revealed that the pension contributions of 12,000 insured persons remained only in the state pension tier. The envisioned percentage of their contributions hasn’t been transferred to the private (second) tier, even though the insured  persons met the conditions. With this, the right to a higher pension of these 12,000 future pensioners was violated. To exemplify, a insured person with an average salary has lost approximately 95 thousand denars in the period between 2007 to 2018,” reports the MLSP.

The ministry adds that they will amend the injustices they had inherited from the previous government and will return the money to the citizens.

“For this purpose, the private pension companies will receive 19 million euros from the the state budget. These funds will be allocated to those insured who were damaged, i.e. 400,000 denars to each. The bad and irresponsible policies of the previous government led to an increase in the PIOM deficit of 15 billion denars. In order to reduce this deficit, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has prepared a package of measures that came into force on 1st January 2019. Through them, the structure of the two-tier pension system is changing. The goal of the MLSP is to ensure stable payments and continuous growth of pensions, without increasing the age limit or freezing the pensions,” the statement adds.
