The leader of the Greek opposition party, New Democracy Kirijakos Mitsotakis, has accused the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras that he tried to play the card of divisions, since he wanted to cause a division within the opposition, but he failed, and he wanted to do the same with the nation when he called them to be radical right-wing those who have taken part in the protests.
According to him, the Greek government has strived to give everything without a plan or guarantees, and he said that only two symbolic moves were needed, the renaming of both the airport and the highway.
Mitsotakis said that instead of building a consensus and support from the opposition parties to form a united front, Tsipras has chosen to use the name dispute for his own party’s interests.
According to him, the negotiations led by the government was badly conceived from the start.
-Even the basic issues regarding the irredentism and the changes in the Constitution were put in the agenda after New Democracy’s reactions. Until now, it is not clear whether these changes are really the necessary condition in order for the name talks to continue, as we strive for – said Mitsotakis.
