Migrants break through fences near Gevgelija, police use tear gas to force them back

-

This morning, a large group of migrants, who have been stranded at Idomeni, used a makeshift battering ram with which they managed to break through the wire fencing on the southern border with Greece, and enter onto the Macedonian side, so reports the “BBC“.

The British state Broadcasting Company reported that on video footage from the site, one can see migrants pushing the fence and tearing at the barbed wire, while police employed tear gas with the intention of forcing them back.
The MOI, has so far not officially confirmed or denied this information. They have stated that once they have analysed the situation they will announce further details later in the day.

Part of the border fencing has been destroyed by the improvised device , managing to create gaps, and it is presently unclear how many migrants made it through the fence and entered the country.
