The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today told politicians from the region to focus on solving the problems of their own citizens, instead of interfering in the internal affairs of Macedonia.
“We reminded them that in Macedonia there are elected representatives by the citizens. They are the only legitimate factors in decision-making. It would be good if the Macedonian concept of multicultural integration in society, based on European values, apply in neighboring countries. Politicians from neighbouring countries who persistently try to distract attention from problems at home, with fire at their neighbours, go against European values. Certainly it is more attractive to deal with neighboring countries, in difficult circumstances when they should be focusing on the real needs of citizens in their own country. However,it would be best for all to commit to reforms that are so badly needed before they create divisions in the region”, said the Foreign Ministry.
The MFA said that any kind of interference in the internal affairs of Macedonia is pointless.
“We have no specific intentions to engage in the analysis of who is interfering and with what purpose. I would advise all parties interested to respect Macedonian sovereignty and the will of the citizens. They are the only competent people to make decisions for the country. Macedonia remains committed to its objectives and principles. Experience has shown us that good solutions for the country must come from the interests of our citizens. Such an attitude is in function of the European integration of the country. Only a sovereign, effective and efficient Macedonia can contribute to the project which is massively supported by our citizens, “the Foreign Ministry said.
