Macedonian journalists join the march of solidarity with pencils in their hands

-

With pencils in their hands, Macedonian journalists today gathered in the Park of journalists to pay tribute to their killed colleagues in the massacre in Paris satirical weekly “Charlie Hebdo”. French Ambassador Laurence Auer also participated at the Macedonian solidarity march.

– We are here today because we got an invitation from colleagues from France to attend the march there, but we believe that there needs to show unity, solidarity and defiance here as well. This disgusting attack aimed to destroy the freedom of the media and the entire edition of “Charlie Hebdo”. But “Charlie” will continue to live and, following Wednesday, colleagues who escaped the bullets will issue a new edition of “Charlie Hebdo” with millions of copies. This attack is not the first attempt to silence journalists. The fight continues and we will fight to condemn extremists who promote hatred” – said Dragan Antonovski, reading a letter from the French colleagues.

Journalists and citizens directed from the Park of journalist to the French Cultural Centre, which gave a live feed from the march of solidarity in Paris. In the Centre, participants of the Macedonian march signed in the book of condolence and laid down their pencils paying tribute to fallen colleagues.
