Macedonia is outside terrorism map

-

Hundreds of experts from 13 countries in the world are trying to come up with a strategy for successfully dealing with cyber-terrorism at a conference in Ohrid organized under the Advanced School for cyber-security and cyber-defense of NATO and hosted by Military Academy “General Mihajlo Pupin” from Skopje.

Republic of Macedonia is not a priority on the terrorism map, think experts from Macedonia, but they don’t deny that there are several websites controlled by jihadists in this region.

– There are several websites in this area which are registered as websites on which jihadist messages are exchanged, mobilization is carried out and messages for radicalization are conveyed. There are also certain forums which are closed and on which are shared experiences, lessons and ways to include other young people – says the vice-dean of the Military Academy “General Mihajlo Pupin”, Dr. Metodi Hadzi-Janev.

Dr. Stewart MacDonald, professor of the University Swansea in the United States, believes that if the world wants success, it is a necessary to mutually fight against the abuse of cyberspace by terrorists.

– We are trying to come up with techniques for penetrating and monitoring websites and forums of jihadists. But it is important to talk about how to respond to these threats, to identify ways to cope and to jointly respond to these challenges. We need to overcome the weaknesses in international cooperation – says MacDonald.
