Maja Parnadzhieva-Zmejkova, director of the Health Insurance Fund, today resign from office. She explained that the resignation is of human reasons.
– I am a human being brought up to help others, not a heartless bureaucrat. Today I announced that I decided to retire from the post of director of the Fund out of human reasons – said Zmejkova.
She said that she never had a stain in her work in her career and the last two weeks, despite a personal family tragedy, were the most difficult period in her life.
– I waited to get the results of forensic medicine, in order to ascertain the cause of death, and to see the truth about this case, because of what happened and hell we passed, and the efforts that were done previously, and part of the public has not appreciated, I will carry with me my entire life even though I know that we did literally everything we could. Once again I will say, I understand the anger of the people, I was angry too, I was literally crushed. Please don’t politicize this and such cases, really because there is nothing more painful than seeing this through the prism of policy. Nobody wants these things to happen. Nobody. And it is good to abuse such moments. Most difficult is to the family and nobody can assume their pain and anger, and whatever the outcome, their pain, and ours, all of us who are somehow involved in this, will continue. I am deeply sorry – said Zmejkova.
