“Magyar Telekom” hearing postponed, defendants to be tried in absentia

-

Today the court case “Magyar Telekom” was postponed again in which defendants are the three former directors of “Macedonian Telecom”, Attila Szendrei, Rolf Plath and Zoltan Kishius. As reported by the court, it was decided that the three defendants be tried in absentia.

Lawyer, Nenad Janikjevik said he had received authorization from the defendant, Attila Szendrei to represent him at trial, therefore he requested postponement of today’s hearing to be able to inspect the case documents.

The investigation started in 2008, and the indictment was filed in 2011.

The three defendants are facing charges of abuse of power and positions of authority.

The case, better known to the public as “Magyar Telecom” has resurfaced into public domain again after the Special Public Prosecution requested the two cases, one of which is already undergoing court proceedings, while the other is still under investigation.
