-

On June, the 7th, nine Austrian and local companies will come together for the Маcedonian-Austrian Business Forum at the Economic Chamber of Macedonia. Companies will be from various industries such as textile, food, pharmaceutical and the metal industry.

The goal is to deepen direct cooperation, which will develop competitiveness in the market, making way for the creation of new products and to increase exports for Macedonian companies.

“This forum is designed to promote direct cooperation between companies of the two countries. In the first three months, total trade with Austria amounted to 39.86 million which is 10 percent higher compared to the same period last year. Exports are still worth $11 million. Austria is in 16th place as trade partners of Macedonia”, said the senior adviser at the Chamber of Commerce, Jadranka Arizankovska.

She emphasized that the purpose of the business forum is mostly to contribute to the development of the domestic economy than to attract foreign investments.

Head of the Trade Department at the Austrian Embassy in Macedonia, Gerhard Schlattl added that despite the political situation in the country Austrian companies are still interested in cooperating with Macedonian companies and announced the entry of two new companies in the Macedonian market.

Austrian companies in the country are most common in the area of services.

In the conclusion of the third survey of the business climate in Macedonia, recently conducted by the trade department of the Embassy of Austria in the country, stated that Austrian companies in the country have assessed the current economic situation as worse compared to last year.
