Macedonia has overpaid foreign investments 225 million euros

Foreign investments from 2007 to May 2017 cost Macedonia 225 million euros, Government spokesman Mile Bosnjakovski announced on Thursday.

He said that foreign investors employed 20,000 workers, but most of them were taken over by Macedonian companies. It costs the Governemnt around 11.00 euros for one employment.

“There are no documents to show how the negotiations with foreign investors were conducted. Any state aid was granted without certain criteria. After the conclusion of the agreements, the Government classified them and they became inaccessible as information to the public”, said Bosnjakovski.

In the past ten years the Government has paid 26 million euros in cash from the state budget. From these, 14 million euros were spent to create new jobs, and 5 million euros were paid for employee training, with the sum ranging from 100 to 3,000 euros per worker. 10 million euros were paid for construction works.
