Doctors Without Borders are still waiting to get a permit to give aid to the refugees in Gevgelija

-

The humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders still hasn’t received a permit to give medical care to the refugees that are coming to Macedonia. The Ministry of Health is responsible for giving that permit,” reports NovaTv.

The news portal wrote that several doctors have been in the country for some time now, but cannot obtain the needed permit to be able to give medical care. “Doctors Without Borders” are looking for that permit in order to be able to take over the entire care for the migrants who are in need of medical care such as operations, first aid and all that is necessary. The expenses will be covered by the organization.

The Macedonian Ministry of Health confirmed that representatives of the international non-government organization had submitted their memorandum for cooperation, which sets the aspects in which the organization can contribute to giving medical care to migrants on the territory of Macedonia.

The ministry commented that the region where the migrants are located is supervised by medical crews from the health clinic in Gevgelija as well as crews from the general hospital in the town. There are continuous efforts to disinfect the area and the vehicles of transportation.

The ministry, however, has not responded for how long Doctors Without Borders have been waiting to have their memorandum of cooperation processed and why the procedure is taking so long.
