Lion Caesar and tiger Putin are not neighbors to stray dogs

No scattered carcasses of animals, neither waste in cages of homeless dogs. This is the image we saw today in Bitola zoo, despite yesterday’s stunning photographs of the Association for the Protection of Animals “Anima Mundi”, showing the bones of slaughtered animals near the cages of stray dogs.
Four or five feet from the cages of dogs, waste and rest of the food used for the animals from the zoo are in two separate containers. The bones were wrapped in black plastic bags.
The head of the zoo, Gjoko Damevski, denies that stray dogs are first neighbors of lions and, on the contrary, argues that the cages of dogs have no connection to the zoo and its tenants.
– Zoo covers an area of 2.2 hectares, the lions are five hundred meters away from the dogs and I consider this claim that they are neighbors as biased. Lion Caesar and tiger Putin neighbors are not neighbors to stray dogs. We take care for our animal best of our abilities, and cages for dogs under the jurisdiction of PE “Komunalec”. As for the waste of the zoo, it is neatly stored in crates and bags so there is no visible residue from food, nor there is stench – says Damevski.
