The state of emergency the Government had declared this summer due to the increased entry and transit of migrants on the territory of Macedonia will continue until June 15 next year.
The decision as opted by the Assembly after the government estimated that there will be an increasing number of migrants.
Interior Minister Mitko Chavkov, said that this decision was necessary because the current situation analysis showed that the increased transit of migrants will last for the coming period.
“ A state of emergency will help in the future to increase the security and tranquility of the surrounding population and provide special treatment to asylum seekers. This enables better coordination between institutions in the country, as well as domestic and international humanitarian organizations. The situation with the migrants using Macedonia as transit terminals will worsen because the European Union has not yet found an organized response to the problem facing the world, and especially this continent”, Minister Chavkov.
Around the country since the beginning of the year gone by around 300,000 migrants have passed through Macedonia.
