I clearly and strictly pointed out that he is not in his jurisdiction to say what Athens policy is, nor describe it in the wrong way, said Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, regarding mediator Matthew Nimetz, reports the Macedonian Information Agency (MIA).
Through a statement, Kotzias said that he had a long conversation with the personal representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, after his visit to Skopje. The Greek Foreign Minister added that negotiations should be conducted on the basis of what was agreed in Davos, but also on the basis of overlapping and mutual positions.
“Based on the briefing I received from the talks that Mr. Nimetz had in Skopje, I made it clear that the negotiations can not be conducted differently, except in the continuation of the agreement made in Davos. In addition, every well-meaning negotiation is based on the convergence that has already been reached”, the statement said.
Kotzias congratulated the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his statement who called for sobriety and restraint.
