Guidelines and warnings of possible retaliatory action in the police operation in Kumanovo on 9th of May and increased level of security measures contained in the guidance telegram which the Ministry of Interior sent to senior officials in the ministry, is still in force, confirmed Deputy Minister of Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior Ivo Kotevski for META.
– The safety level is raised even earlier and the public was informed of that. Guidelines of guidance telegram are still in force – said Kotevski to our question whether after the information that the Kosovo police raised the security level because of possible terrorist attacks from jihadists, identical measures are also taken by Macedonian security authorities.
Macedonian state news agency MIA last night released information that Kosovo police raised the level of mobility and strengthened the provision of vital infrastructure, citing Kosovo portal “Lajmi.net”.
The news of “Lajmi.net” was published four days ago, on 29th of June, titled “ISIS preparing terrorist attacks in Kosovo? Police neither confirms nor denies.”
The news of Kosovo portal, which was reported by MIA as well, reads that, according to their sources, Kosovo authorities are reportedly planning to give up the traditional celebration of the Independence Day of the United States since the event, due to the high frequency of people, is an attractive target for attack.
According to information released in early June, Macedonian Interior Ministry sent an instructive telegram to senior officials in MOI to raise security measures because of operational knowledge that some supporters of the terrorist group that was liquidated in Kumanovo might plan to kidnap officials of MOI and attack vital state institutions.
In this context, guidelines for securing persons and facilities whose safety is under the jurisdiction of MOI, for treatment and handling equipment and official vehicles and guidance with respect to securing and patrolling the northern border were issued.
