Kocijancic: The adoption of the law on amnesty is an important step for reconciliation in the society

-

The adoption of the law on amnesty concerning the persons that were involved in the attacks at the Parliament on the 27th of April 2017, was greeted by Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.

-The decision by the Assembly to adopt a law on amnesty with a large majority is an important step for reconciliation in the society and for the need to overcome painful polarisation. This process is crucial in helping build a national consensus on strategic issues for the interests of the country. The EU expects the adopted law not to interfere in the independence of the Courts which alone can decide on who was involved in organizing or perpetrating violence, or who failed to perform their official duties, on 27 April 2017.
