Spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic for EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations today clarified for “Meta” Johannes Hahn’s statement for the Bulgarian newspaper “Kapital“, and that it was taken out of context.
“I believe the quote was taken out of context. The Commissioner’s position remains as outlined in his latest press statement”, said Maja Kocijancic for “Meta”.
Bulgarian newspaper “Kapital” on January the 22nd published an interview with the European Commissioner, and when asked about the elections in Macedonia Hahn said, “Again I say, we decisive election is to conduct a fair, transparent and democratic manner. It does not matter if everyone will participate, what’s important is the quality of the electoral process. On this basis we can make the next steps to move forward.”
Commissioner Hahn on January 18 said he favours a consensus decision by all parties on the election date and to ensure fair elections in accordance with democratic standards.
