Kalajdziev and Najchevska: Janeva’s team will not succeed

-

Katica Janeva’s selection of prosecutors stirred some skepticism today, and comments from legal experts.
According to Professor Gordon Kalajdziev, who was shortlisted for the position of Special Public Prosecution, but was dismissed at the last moment, said there were a few strange things in the choice of the selected prosecutors.

“Firstly, it is obvious that they were politically selected because they are pro-government and anti-government within the team of Prosecutors. Actually, she has made two teams. So now there are two teams without a leader. I think that quite soon, it’s all going to end in tears. Secondly, most of the prosecutors want to leave an impression that they are really doing something. Also, Ms Janeva announced that the investigators will be elected in October, so what she is really doing is prolonging the situation. In a way it’s controversial and the time to process a case is 18 months. Why is there the need for deadlines? Will they be able to accomplish anything in that period of time?” – said Kalajdziev.

Professor Mirjana Najchevska believes that the election of 14 new prosecutors, who should be able to assist her as Special Prosecutor, is just more proof that we should not expect any success in the case of intercepted telephone conversations.

“The choice Ms Janeva has made only fuels suspicions and questions that something will really be done. I think the whole thing is very frivolous. Foreign experts were not included in the selection, there were no criteria for the selection of prosecutors for example, experience and knowledge. Also, none of them should be politically involved in mounted cases so that there is a reaction from the people”, says Mirjana Najchevska.
