Some journalists protested today in front of the MPs Clubhouse so they could be involved in the negotiations with the working groups who are all signatory to the Przhino Agreement.
The AJM, SSNM and MIM called for action, and fifty journalists for half an hour blocked the entrance of the MPs Clubhouse and expressed outrage by loud whistles at members of the working groups.
It is unclear whether from the pressure from the journalists, but today’s meeting, which was meant to be held at 12 pm, has been postponed.
After the announcement that the meeting is postponed, the protest of the journalists’ organizations ended peacefully.
According to Naser Selmani, President of the AJM, it is unacceptable in a democratic society for journalists to be excluded from the negotiations that are about them..
“We urge the VMRO-DPMNE, SDSM, DUI and DPA, and the Belgian facilitator Peter Vanhoutte urgently to lt us get involved in the negotiations to regulate the media. If the EU wants democratic laws they should include us in the negotiations, not let them make decisions behind closed doors and to come to a conclusion without us”, Mr Selmani said.
According to him, some changes have been made in the process, but they want to hear solutions directly from the working groups. Also Selmani declared that, according to his knowledge, political parties are far from working out a solution to the problems that are being discussed.
The political parties gave themselves until Friday to reach agreement on reforms in the media.
