Ivanov will not meet with Hahn, instead he is giving his meeting slot to “For a United Macedonia”

-

President Gjorge Ivanov will not be meeting with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, and the three MEPs, Eduard Kukan, Ivo Vajgl and Knut Fleckenstein, as he is still visiting Hungary.

The president’s cabinet announced that Ivanov will return to Macedonia late this evening and on Friday he even informed Ambassador Samuel Žbogar that he has no plans to meet with the four representatives from Brussels, because his views on awarding the mandate remains unchanged.

“President Ivanov clearly and unequivocally stated that he will not assign the mandate, without public condemnation and rejection of the Tirana platform . As the President will not be attending the meeting with Hahn, Ivanov said that he will give his meeting slot to the representatives of the civil initiative “For a United Macedonia” who have demanded to have a meeting with Hahn. It is good for the European Commissioner to get better acquainted with the arguments and the reasons for why Macedonian citizens are protesting for more than 20 days”, said Ivanov’s cabinet.

On their journey to Skopje, one of Commissioner Hahn’s associates tweeted a photo from the plane and he wrote: ”On the journey to Skopje, Johannes Hahn, Eduard Kukan, Knut Fleckenstein and Ivo Vajgl, with a message to respect democracy and the parliamentary majority. Don’t fuel inter-ethnic tensions.”
