Ivanov: We have yet to find a legal basis for withdrawing the pardons

-

As I said in my last announcement, in connection with all the personal requests I have received to withdraw my decision for the pardons – immunity from prosecution without proceedings, ongoing consultations are taking place with legal experts ti find a possible legal solution, said President Gjorgi Ivanov in a written statement.

The statement says that presently, consultations with top legal experts in the state, have not found a legal basis for the withdrawal of the decision and that consultations continue in the direction of finding a solution.

“I call on the leaders of political parties, signatories of Przhino Agreement, to all engage in this process and offer a legal solution that would be consistent with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Macedonia. I, as before, and in the future will only handle matters solely and exclusively in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Macedonia. Regarding the protests, I declare that no one is denied the right to express their opinion, discontent or protest any decision from any state institution. However, in exercising that right, I urge people protesting not to disrupt public order and not to destroy public or private property, ” said the statement by Ivanov.

The President said that the country has faced challenges and crises, but have always managed to find a solution through dialogue within the institutions, guided primarily in the interests of the citizens and the country.
