“In Macedonia we face all the risks and threats that exist in our neighbouring countries and in Europe. There are threats, but we successfully deal with them on a preventive basis and we proactively act. Citizens need to be reassured by our institutions, and they need to be in cooperation with their partner agencies, and carry on preventing all risks that existed before, “said President Gjorge Ivanov, who visited the Intelligence Agency.
As for today’s terrorist act in Brussels, Ivanov underlined that such events will occur.
“The intelligence services must cooperate and have a security plan to swap information. We shouldn’t be slaves to the bureaucratic procedures in the sense that we were not in the EU, and we do not have the right to access those databases. We offer it for the safety of the continent to the other countries in the EU, which in the future will be faced with terrorist attacks and threats. But not only in Europe, this is a planetary phenomenon”, said Ivanov.
