President Gjorge Ivanov believes that the decision made by the Macedonian MFA to expel a Russian diplomat, was hasty, reports the presidential office.
“As a candidate country for EU membership, Macedonia follows EU policy and its decisions made by consensus and on a EU level. Given that the decisions to expel Russian diplomats are not an expression of harmonized views of all EU member states, and is more of individual decisions by individual member states, the President of the Republic of Macedonia believes that the decision made by the Macedonian MFA was hasty”, read the statement.
Ivanov calls for restraint from making hasty moves regarding foreign policy, as indicated, in order to prevent possible damage to the realization of Macedonia’s strategic goals.
The statement added that the president, in accordance with positive legislation, expects to be officially informed about the facts, in public, related to this case.
