Ivanov awards Durlovski the Order of Merit for his services at MOB

Today, to mark the occasion of May the 9th – Victory in Europe Day, President Gjorge Ivanov awarded the Macedonian Opera and Ballet with the Order of Merit.

The ceremony took place at the residence of the President at Vodno, and the Director of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet (MOB), Igor Durlovski was their to accept the award.

“This award is recognition of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet and its role in the victory of creativity over destructiveness, and music over silence”, said Ivanov in his speech while presenting the awards.

Otherwise, the Director of MOB, Igor Durlovski was one of the founders and leaders of the civil initiative “For a United Macedonia”. He also played a large role in the protests organised in Skopje and other cities across the country against the platform of the Albanian parties and demands for new parliamentary elections.

After Talat Xhaferi was elected Speaker of Parliament on April the 27th, the protests escalated, and a large crowd of protesters, including Igor Durlovski, stormed the Parliament building. Amongst the violence, MPs and journalists were injured by some of the protesters and they went on to demolish the interior of the Parliament building.
