The Minister in charge of Communications, Accountability, and Transparency, Robert Popovski has met today with representatives of the International Republic Institute (IRI), Olin L. Wethington, IRI for Macedonia’s Director, Owen Paun and Ilina Mangova, IRI Macedonia’s Deputy Director.
“The strategic aspirations fro transparency and fight against false news have to continue regardless who will take the power. For that purpose we have to educate the citizens first through the introduction of media literacy to be part of the formal education”” said Popovski during the meeting.
He stressed the importance of placing professionals at the Agency of Audio and Audio-visual media services. Popovski also said that the Government has created a professional sector for informing that promotes the transparency of all budgetary transactions.
“What followis in the forthcoming period is a uncompromising fight with crime and corruption including reforms in the judiciary system” said Popovski.
IRI has offered expert help for the Government in its efforts to make the general public more aware of false news.
