The Independent Union of Journalists and Media Workers (SSNM) appealed to media owners to take appropriate measures to protect journalists and employees.
“Taking into account the fact that the journalist profession is one of the most jeopardized professions and second only to the medical profession when it comes to fighting the coronavirus spread, and with the obvious lack of protective equipment in drug stores and markets, SSNM requests from the Crisis Management Center to find ways to provide enough quantities of protective equipment (antibacterial gel, hand gloves and masks) for journalists” said SSNM’s press release.
At the same time, all media owners are called upon to organize the work of the editorial desks in an efficient manner in order to provide the minimal protection for their employees.
“Journalists and media workers are an important element in the fight against the coronavirus. They are performing tasks of public interest without which the eradiction of the virus in Macedonia will not be possible. That is why their protection should be one of this society’s top priorities” said the press release.
