In a week, number of COVID-19 positive cases increased by 35.5 percent, mortality by 7.1 percent

The Ministry of Health of North Macedonia informs that in accordance with the report of the National Institute of Public Health, which refers to the period from 28 September to 4 October, 9 832 samples have been tested in the molecular testing labs for the presence of COVID-19, which is 1.5 per cent more than the previous week.

Total of 1 203 new positive cases from 31 cities were registered, which represents an increase of 35.5 percent compared to the previous week. Most of the reported cases are from Skopje (n=519; 43,1%), and the highest weekly incidence has been registered in the Berovo – 192,3 from 100,000 people. The percentage of positive cases tested in this period amounted to 12,2 per cent, or three per cent more than the previous Sunday.

“Most prevalent is the age group of persons over the age of 60 (n=239, 19,9 per cent). A large number of cases are registered among the persons in the age groups of 40-49 (n=220; 18,3 per cent), 50-59 (n=200; 16,6 per cent); 30-39 (n=222; 18,5 per cent) and the 20-29 (n=194; 16,1 per cent). The lowest number was registered among the children from 0 to 9 (n=38; 3,2 percent) and 10-19 years (n=90; 7,5 per cent). Compared to last week, the largest increase in the number of newly registered cases fell in the age group of 20-29 years, and 30-39 years of age, about 60 per cent, or 46,1 percent, respectively,“ says the Report.
